Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2020 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase What looks to be a film about a man meeting the father that abandoned him when he was five years old is about so much more. The trailers didn't give anything away and I'm very happy about it. The performances are great and the story is way more impactful by the end than I expected. When the credits hit I had a genuine emotional reaction to the events of the film and the ending. Go in with no preconceived notions and have a great time. My only real gripe is the third act definitely slows down in pace but it didn't negatively effect my enjoyment of the film. Reviewed in the United States on February 29, 2020 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase Just enjoy the trailer because its as good as the film gets. The premise and acting spot on. But by the time you learn the premise of the storyline or why certain characters are who they are? You don't really care. They haven't developed them or given you reason to care. That's not just an opinion, its calling out 101 storytelling failures. In that sense, its squashed together on the hopes that you'll miss out on what they've skipped. They try to throw in some gratuitous violence for extra punch but it misses. I personally was bummed because I like seeing Elijah Wood in these strange Film Noir roles, but he and Stephen McHattie may have been slightly misscast even if at first I was open to their chemistry. There was no real moral to the film either as much as the filmmakers tried to convince you there was. Very forgettable. Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2020 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase This is what people in LA think life is like. Fortunately its not, unfortunately this movie exists. Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2020 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase A breath of fresh air in what seems to be an age of remakes and non-original ideas. Some of the plot was predictable but was a very fun watch & enjoyed every second. Elijah Wood really pulls the movie along & never does any wrong. 8/10 Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2020 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase The is a very strange and hilariously uncomfortable movie, if you are looking for something a little different then give this a watch! Reviewed in the United States on February 29, 2020 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase This film was just meh, ok. I didn't hate it, Elijah Wod was very good as the son Norval same with the actor whom played the father. I have to agree with the others who stated the film is not what the trailer made it seem like. To a horror, but a slow paced drama. Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2020 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase Sure, there were some twists, but not a great movie. I wouldn't recommend watching it Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2020 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase This was terrific script, directing, and acting. A couple of real smart twists and turns. Try it.
Dodi title 38. Dođi tati. Pesma je extra, samo tako Natasha! 👍✌️🇦🇹. (The Wellington premiere with Ant Timpson and Emma Slade giving Q&A)
O.M.G. That was, as expected, an Incredibly Strange movie. (Ant Timpson is best known in New Zealand for the Incredibly Strange film festival, which began in 1994 with the likes of Plan Nine from Outer Space.)
Elijah Wood's character, Norval, is aptly named. He is an innocent nerd, called to visit his estranged-since-childhood father at a remote and beauiful house on the shore of Vancouver Island. The father (Stephen McHattie) is creepy from the get-go (think Jack Nicholson in The Shining. I'll say no more but nothing is as it seems and the movie is a roller coaster ride of extreme tension and release, extreme violence, and a generous slab of (black, of course) comedy. Just suspend your belief enough to erase the words "We've got to get you to hospital" from your memory.
I didn't stay for all the Q&A because they talked at length about technical details, but Timson based the movie on his own experience with the death of his father, which was Pretty Strange.
It'll never be a blockbuster, but it'll be a cult favourite for years to come.

James Aphex Twin singles chronology " Girl/Boy " (1995) " Come to Daddy " (1997) " Windowlicker " (1999) Music video "Come to Daddy" on YouTube " Come to Daddy " is a song by British electronic music producer Richard D. James, released under his main pseudonym Aphex Twin. It was released as a single through Warp Records on 6 October 1997, coinciding with the lengthier extended play release of the same name. A music video for the song was released, which later became infamous for its content. It did, however, get ranked at number one on Pitchfork ' s Top 50 Music Videos of 1997 list. In October 2011, NME placed the song at number 42 on its "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years" list. [2] The song peaked at number 10 on this Danish Singles Chart and number 36 on the UK Singles Chart. Background [ edit] James noted his thoughts on the song in a 2001 interview with Index Magazine, notably being uninterested in its popularity. "'Come to Daddy' came about while I was just hanging around my house, getting pissed and doing this crappy death metal jingle. Then it got marketed and a video was made, and this little idea that I had, which was a joke, turned into something huge. It wasn't right at all. " [3] After its successful release, James claimed that he removed the record from circulation for one week, hoping to prevent it from reaching number one; it peaked at 36. [4] According to AllMusic, the track has been interpreted as a "send-up" of the Prodigy 's hit single " Firestarter. " [5] Music video [ edit] The music video for "Come to Daddy" (released in October 1997) was directed by Chris Cunningham and filmed on the same council estate where Stanley Kubrick shot many scenes in A Clockwork Orange. [6] The scene is shot around Tavy Bridge Shopping centre, Thamesmead, which was demolished in 2007. [6] Much of the dark underground car parking is now gone. Description [ edit] The video opens with an old woman (played by Carol Lorne) walking a dog in a grimy, industrial setting. The dog urinates on an abandoned television lying on the pavement, causing it to sputter unexpectedly into life, and a distorted and warping headshot of Richard D. James chants the lyrics. This unleashes a spirit, accompanied by a gang of small children, all of whom bear James' grinning face and who appear to inhabit the abandoned buildings. The children go around wreaking havoc, trashing an alley and chasing a man into his car. The thin man (played by Al Stokes [7]) emerges from the television, screams in the woman's face, then gathers the children around him. Distinctions and awards [ edit] It is the only music video in the top 50 of The 100 Greatest Scary Moments as voted by Channel 4 viewers in 2003. [8] The video is included on the Directors Label volume, The Work of Director Chris Cunningham. [9] The video was also named the number one video of the 1990s by Pitchfork. [10] The video won the Golden Nica (main award) in the Digital Musics category at the Prix Ars Electronica in 1999. [11] Use in media [ edit] "Come to Daddy" was used in the television series Master of None in a scene where Aziz Ansari 's character Dev imagines himself as a parent to two bratty children. [12] The show's music supervisor Zach Cowie stated he and Ansari "were both very big Aphex Twin fans. And he shows up a couple times in the series. Growing up as a kid watching 120 Minutes, that video will always be the total personification of an absolute nightmare to me. It just popped into my head. " [12] The song was also used at the end of the Joel Schumacher film 8mm. The song (and/or album) is mentioned in Frank Ocean's 2017 single "Provider" following the line "Stiff smile just like I'm Aphex Twin".
